Escape to Winterfest Sydney Medieval Fair! Held at Hawkesbury Showground during the 4th and 5th of July, this has to be my all-time favourite experience so far at a medieval fair. Watch a jousting tournament, hold an owl, or even pet a unicorn!
Here is my list of 8 things to do at Winterfest Sydney Medieval Fair.
Watch a Battle
There are so many battles to watch at Winterfest Sydney! From historical re-enactments to LARP, be prepared to be mesmerised by some serious skill! You might even learn a thing or two.
Hold an Owl
This was the highlight of my day, I have been obsessed with owls ever since watching Harry Potter as a kid. Jasper the owl was the sweetest little guy, and for only $10 (that's two flat whites in Sydney!) I got to hold him and take photos.
Just be careful not to hold the owl too close to your eyes!
Pet a Unicorn
My best friend as a kid was an invisible unicorn named Jennifer that lived under my mom's kitchen table. No joke. So when I saw a unicorn at Sydney Winterfest I nearly lost it! I'm pretty sure we are best friends now.
Eat Medieval Food

Meet a Mermaid
Do you love mermaids? At Winterfest Sydney you can meet one!
If you're like me, you grew up watching The Little Mermaid and are obsessed with the new movie coming out. Meet one of these mythical creatures, she might just sing you a song or two!
Watch a Jousting Tournament
If you're like me and you've never seen a live jousting tournament, I highly recommend going to Sydney Winterfest! Enjoy jousting throughout the day, where you can cheer on professional jousters like Lady Elizabeth.
Learn Medieval Crafts
Meet the people behind SCA, or Society for Creative Anachronism and learn some new skills. This was one of my favourite moments at Sydney Winterfest. They showed me heaps of different arts and crafts they do and other historical re-enactment fun!
Buy LARP Armour
What would a weekend at Winterfest Sydney Medieval Fair be without shopping for new LARP armour? With so many vendors all located in one area, it was easy to browse new armour for my larp character. Spoiled for choice, I ended up with some new viking-style beads and a Thor's hammer necklace.
I also got to interview Avi from Epic Armoury, so stay tuned for the animated video (and my first vlog interview EVER!) Check out their website for some epic larp armour!
